The CDC and FDA have resumed a multistate investigation concerning a Salmonella outbreak associated with dietary supplements that include imported moringa leaf powder, with 119 confirmed cases reported across 36 states as of May 27, 2026. This includes 32 hospitalizations and no fatalities. The inquiry was initially closed in March 2026 but was reopened following the emergence of 22 new cases. Genetic testing shows that the Salmonella Typhimurium and Newport strains are identical in all affected individuals, establishing contaminated imported moringa as the cause. Several brands, such as Live It Up Super Greens powder and MOGO brand moringa capsules, have been recalled. Consumers are advised to discard or return any dietary supplements containing moringa immediately.
